In 2009 I lost my job at the same time I lost my Dad. It was a very sad time for me. I decided to explore my artistic side. I went and bought many items to make my ideas in my head a reality. I use acrylic paint and my inking technique to create my Hearts and Angels. I then layer with items such as pearls, medallions, antique jewelry, feathers, twigs or dried flowers. In doing this, it acted as a form of therapy for me to get through my hard time. Creating my Hearts and Angels was a comfort to me.
After creating my framed art, I started wire wrapping wine glasses, and from there tried to make a pendant for myself. I received many compliments so I decided to make a collection of pendants, earrings and bracelets. I use natural stones, Petoskey’s, Dichroic glass, fordite , Swarovski crystals and pearls. I like to mix items to create a one of a kind piece.
I then approached galleries and juried into Art show to see if my2-D art and jewelry would be accepted, and it was.
I am sharing a big part of me with the public and that makes me very happy.
I feel so touched when people say my art speaks to them or makes them feel good when they look at it. Then I know they are feeling what I do when I make the piece of art. I am a self-taught artist, so it all comes from within me.
I work in my home studio in a quiet atmosphere to focus on what I am creating.
My husband has been so supportive and I could not do art shows without his help. Thank you for letting me share my story with you, and you’re interest in my art, which is a part of me.
